Images of British Lichens

Buellia violaceofusca G. Thor & Muhr

Thallus crustose, immersed in the substrate or thin, greyish white, somewhat granular, with slightly elevated, violet-brown soralia, usual chemical tests negative; apothecia and pycnidia unknown. A rare species on dry bark of mature oaks (Quercus) and Ash (Fraxinus excelsior), known from a few sites in N.E. England and eastern Scotland.
