Images of British Lichens

Hymenelia prevostii (Duby) Kremp.

Thallus a thin, cream to pale brown crust, partly immersed in the rock surface or superficial and becoming cracked-areolate; apothecia pink-brown, often surrounded by a circular fissure. Very similar to H. epulotica but with a chlorococcoid photobiont, so not scratching yellow-orange. Widespread but very local on hard limestones.
